Real Madrid went top of La Liga on goal difference after a goalless draw with Osasuna.

Real’s victory over Barcelona in the “clásico” at the Camp Nou stadium came on Sunday but ended up taking advantage of Sevilla’s draw. Los Blancos were in control from the start but were unable to seize the opportunity.

Karim Benzema had one of the best chances for the visitors when his shot went close to the crossbar in the second half.

Before the start of the match, Osasuna was in sixth place on the La Liga table. The team has won four of their last six games before reaching the Santiago Bernabeau.

“Real Madrid wanted to take the opportunity that Barcelona won against Sevilla, but it was impossible. We tried everything but the ball didn’t come,” Real defender Dani Carvajal told The Associated Press.

Sevilla has failed to manage more than a 1-1 draw in Mallorca, which means they have top scorers in Real Madrid. Antonio Sánchez opened the scoring for Mallorca in the first half with Erik Lamela who arranged for him to visit Sevilla after the break.

Real Betis took the stage in the 4-1 victory over Valencia, supporting Borja Iglesias. It was the third consecutive league victory for a team coached by Manuel Pellegrini.

Real Sociedad also has 21 points at the top of the table. Sociedad plans to play Celta Vigo on Thursday.
